Heres a step-by-step way to get 99 lives in the game.

• 1.) - On the first stage, get to the stages mini-boss, die, and lose one continue. This will start you back off in the middle of the stage.
• 2.) - Perform the "Konami Code" here on IGN Cheats.
• 3.) - Get back to the mini-boss and kill him. Then, work your way to the stages final boss.
• 4.) - Kill the sniper enemy above the boss, and shoot the red center of the boss 49 times.
• 5.) - From here, die until you have "00" lives left.
• 6.) - Stand in front of the red center of the boss, shoot at it (for the 50th hit) and press start immediately after (practically simultaneously).
• 7.) - Perform the "Konami Code" one more time.

If this is done properly, you should now have 99 lives!

Cheat: The Konami Code

The classic Konami Code works in this game! Instead of using it at the game intro, however, youll want to use it after pausing your game. Using it will give you the best version of certain weapons. In case youve forgotten the Konami Code (or never knew it), its the following: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start.

To unlock bonus artwork and other content to be seen at the Contra Museum, complete all 40 challenges in Challenge Mode.

Beat the game on any difficulty level to unlock a new mode called Challenge Mode.

To unlock the original NES Contra title, complete at least four challenges in Challenge Mode.

To unlock a harder version of Contra (NES), a game which can be unlocked on this cartridge, simply beat the game once through. This is identical to how a harder version of the original NES title was unlocked.

To unlock characters from Contra 3 fame, complete 36 challenges in Challenge Mode.

To unlock the character Lucia, complete twenty challenges in Challenge Mode.

If you have any unlockable characters and want them to have different armor colors than their default settings, try the following. On the character select screen, double-tab X, up, or down. This will change the characters armor colors. Then you can press A to select the armor color you want. This works only on unlockable characters.

If you want to hear an interview from series producer Nobuya Nakazato, fulfill at least sixteen challenges in Challenge Mode.

To play as Probotector, clear at least twelve challenges in Challenge Mode.

To unlock an in-game sound test, complete all 40 challenges in Challenge Mode.

To unlock the original NES Super C title, complete at least eight challenges in Challenge Mode.
